IEA’s Inauspicious Indictment & America’s Attenuated Ambition
A new International Energy Agency report shows a major slowdown in US renewable energy growth. The agency cut its forecast for new US capacity by almost half through 2030. This is due to policy changes and canceled government subsidies. Meanwhile, global renewable capacity is still expected to double, led largely by solar power and expansion in China.
