Hydrogen's Hearth: Brussels Bankrolls GreenIron's Residue Renaissance

Swedish company GreenIron has been chosen for up to €20 million from the EU Innovation Fund to build its next factory. It was one of 77 projects picked from 358 applications. GreenIron uses hydrogen instead of coal to turn metal waste, such as dust & scale from steelworks, back into iron without melting it, producing water instead of carbon dioxide. Its first plant is in Sandviken, Sweden. The company must still finalise the grant & decide to invest in the new facility.
