GM Steel is building a new factory in Queensland to make steel from scrap metal. The project will cost around five hundred million Australian dollars. It aims to produce three hundred fifty thousand metric tons of rebar each year. The plant will use a cleaner electric arc furnace process and should start production in 2029.
