The global steel industry is falling badly behind on its climate targets. A new assessment confirms that CO₂ emissions reductions are progressing far too slowly to meet 2030 goals. Blast furnaces still produce around seventy to seventy-five percent of the world's steel, and green investment levels remain a fraction of what is needed. Without faster action on hydrogen technology, scrap recycling, and stronger carbon pricing, the steel sector's share of global emissions will remain a major obstacle to meeting Paris Agreement temperature goals.
