The European Steel Technology Platform appointed Dr. Wim Van der Stricht as its new Secretary General on August 1, 2026. He brings over two decades of expertise in industrial research and low-carbon steelmaking.

Van der Stricht joined from ArcelorMittal, where he led technology strategy for CO₂ and circular economy. His background aligns with the platform's focus on decarbonisation and sustainable innovation.

His leadership will prioritise the Clean Steel Partnership and its successor framework from 2028. This ensures continued collaboration between industry, researchers, and policymakers for a competitive European steel sector.
