The European Commission sets the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism certificate price for Q2 2026 at €75.28 per metric ton of CO₂, a marginal fall from Q1. At the same time, the European Parliament's Environment Committee votes to extend the mechanism to around 180 downstream steel & aluminium products from 2028. A Temporary Decarbonization Fund, starting in 2027, will support affected European producers. The Parliament's full negotiating mandate is expected in September 2026.
