Carbon's Consequential Calculus: CBAM's Central Platform Commences

The European Commission launches a public consultation on draft rules for Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism certificate trading, effective February 2027. A common central platform will handle all financial transactions, separate from the existing Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism Registry. Certificates are non-transferable, priced at a flat €0.05 platform fee, & payable in euro only. Declarants may submit one repurchase request per year, subject to compliance checks, with legal challenges directed to national courts.
