A major study of twenty-four European economies finds that a one percent rise in renewable energy consumption cuts CO₂ emissions by over nine percent in the long run. Environmental spending and innovation deliver reductions of six percent and eight percent respectively per one percent increase. The research also warns that cutting environmental spending or taxes causes disproportionately larger emission increases than the original policies reduced. The findings call for stable carbon pricing, sustained clean innovation investment, and stronger international technology cooperation.
