EUROMETAL has signed a joint statement alongside 19 European industry associations & the trade union industriAll Europe. The 21 signatories want the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism extended to finished & semi-finished products that contain steel & aluminium. They sent their appeal one day before the 20 October trilogue between the European Parliament, Council & Commission. The groups warn that European manufacturers already pay carbon costs on their metal, while imported finished goods often do not. They say this gap threatens factories, investment & quality jobs across Europe.
