The European Commission proposed its 21st sanctions package against Russia on June 12, 2026, targeting metals & alloys used in aerospace & defence, alongside new import bans on Russian metals & ores. The package also adds thirty vessels to the shadow fleet sanctions list, expands bank transaction bans, & for the first time explicitly targets cryptocurrency firms involved in circumvention. Covering goods worth around €60 million, the measures require unanimous approval from all twenty-seven EU member states before taking effect.
