Norway's Enova agency will fund up to NOK 244 million, about $25.54 million, for reusing steel from scrapped ships in new buildings. Partners Nordic Circles & Alsaker Stål will add up to NOK 520 million. Steel can represent a quarter of a building's construction emissions, & reuse avoids almost all of that. Around 10 million metric tons of European ship steel is scrapped yearly, mostly in Asia. Reusing it could save 17 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually.
