Deutsche Bahn has signed a contract with Saarstahl Rail for 1,000 metric tons of green steel rails. The rails will be used in a pilot project covering 22 kilometers of track in western Germany. The steel is produced using electric arc furnaces, which can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 70%.
