Deep.Meta's Decarbonisation Drive & Digital Dexterity
Deep.Meta, a London-based AI startup, achieved a breakthrough 9% emissions reduction at Spartan UK's steel plant in Newcastle-upon-Tyne using its Deep.Optimiser-PhyX digital twin technology. The system combines physics-based modeling alongside machine learning to optimize furnace operations in real-time, addressing steel production's massive carbon footprint of 9% of global CO₂ emissions. The innovation targets saving 10 megatonnes of CO₂ by 2030 while reducing energy costs that comprise 40% of production expenses. Deep.Meta secured £2.1 million ($2.7 million) in funding & was named a Manchester Prize finalist, positioning the technology as crucial for achieving net-zero targets across the UK's £1.7 billion ($2.2 billion) steel industry.
