While the US imports 87% of its output, Europe remains hesitant, importing just 9%, due to price gaps and regulatory inertia. With a $97 premium over Russian coke based iron, experts suggest it could be a valuable tool in Europe’s green steel transition—if supported by policy and certification frameworks.
