CARB’s Climate Calculus & Corporate Compliance Conundrum
California has refined its corporate climate reporting rules, extending the first deadline to November 2026. Companies must report Scope 1 and 2 emissions initially, while Scope 3 will be phased in starting with five key categories in 2027. Third-party assurance becomes mandatory from next year. Insurance companies are now fully covered. The rules apply to firms with over $1 billion in revenue doing business in the state.
