Steel's Strangling Stranglehold: Quota Quandary Quakes UK Firms
The UK's steel import quota overhaul, set for July 2026, could cost small businesses millions. The British Chambers of Commerce warns that a sixty percent quota cut and doubled tariffs will hit firms that rely on imported steel. The UK produces only thirty percent of its own steel needs, making the policy far harsher than similar EU measures. Some companies say they may be forced to relocate to Europe if the changes go ahead unchanged.
