Baowu: Ore of Opportunity & Obdurate Oxidation Overthrow
Baowu, the world’s largest steelmaker, is at the center of China’s plan to cut CO₂ emissions. The group targets a 30% reduction in emissions per metric ton of steel by 2035 & aims for full carbon neutrality by 2050. It is testing hydrogen rich blast furnaces, pure hydrogen shaft furnaces & more scrap based electric arc routes. This shift could reshape not only China’s steel sector but also global expectations for low carbon heavy industry.
