The World Steel Association has chosen new leaders for the 2026/2027 year. Abdulqader Almubarak of Saudi Iron & Steel Company becomes Chair, signalling the Gulf's rising power in global steel. Two Vice-Chairs join him, from Turkey's Çolakoğlu & Japan's Nippon Steel. The association also welcomed new producers from Bangladesh & China, plus affiliated bodies from the United Arab Emirates & Uzbekistan. Henrik Adam stepped in as Secretary. The elections, held in New Delhi, reflect how steel's centre of influence now shifts steadily toward emerging economies across Asia & the Gulf region.
