Vale has restarted its Capanema mine in Brazil after 22 years of dormancy. The company invested $955 million in restoration & modernization efforts. The mine adds 15 million metric tons annually to iron ore production. Operations use dam-free technology eliminating traditional tailings ponds. Five autonomous trucks enhance operational efficiency & safety. The project involved 40 companies & 6,000 workers at peak construction. Vale targets 340-360 million metric tons production by 2026. The restart supports broader $12.3 billion regional investment through 2030.
