U.S. Steel has broken ground on a $475 million Quench & Tempering facility at its Fairfield Tubular Operations in Alabama. The project is expected to create approximately 250 permanent jobs. It will support about 600 construction jobs at peak. The Q&T line is part of a modernisation programme that includes a Premium Thread Line, training facility & warehouse. Construction has begun & is expected to be completed in 2029. The investment strengthens U.S. Steel’s position in the Oil Country Tubular Goods market.
