Swiss steelmaker Trasteel signs a lease to operate Liberty Magona's Piombino steel plant in Italy. Italy's Ministry of Enterprises approved the recovery plan that enabled the deal, protecting around five hundred jobs. Steel production is set to resume in the second half of September 2026. Italian trade unions welcomed the agreement as the start of a new chapter for the historic Piombino industrial site.
