Ferrous Fervor: Libyan Leviathan’s Lustrous Leap

Tosyali SULB plans to invest 2.5 billion dollars in a direct reduced iron complex near Benghazi, Libya. The project will have three production lines with a combined capacity of 8.1 million metric tons annually. The first phase targets 2.7 million metric tons and will begin commercial production in early 2028. About 90 percent of output will be exported, mainly to Europe. The plant will also produce rebar and pipes for the Libyan market.
