JFE Steel has started up Battery 6-A at its Fukuyama Works in Japan, built by SMS group. It is Japan's first stamp-charging coke oven battery using SOPRECO smokeless charging technology. The 52-oven facility can produce 420,000 metric tons of coke a year. Stamp charging, new to Japan, presses coal into a dense cake for better quality. Special pressure control & an ultra-low nitrogen oxide heating system sharply reduce emissions. The project strengthens a decades-long partnership & sets a benchmark for cleaner cokemaking in Japan.
