Oțelu Roșu's Remarkable Resurrection

A Romanian steelworks that closed in 2012 is coming back to life. The UMB Steel Group is modernising the Oțelu Roșu plant on a large scale. One old workshop will produce high-strength steel cables for motorway bridges. These cables will supply the UMB Group's own road construction projects. The biggest investment is a new rolling mill from Germany's SMS Group. It will be Europe's first using Continuous Mill Technology, producing around 700,000 metric tons a year & turning scrap into finished steel in just two hours.
