Indian specialty steel maker Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited has signed a deal with the Heavy Water Board & the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. The three bodies will develop ways to recover nickel & cobalt from factory waste. India imports almost all of its nickel & cobalt. The recovered metals could go into stainless steel, superalloys & electric vehicles. The company says the project will cut reliance on mined minerals & support cleaner manufacturing. No timeline or cost was disclosed.
