MagIron plans to establish domestic merchant pig iron production of approximately 2 million metric tons annually. A study by Primetals Technologies confirmed three viable production routes. The United States imports nearly all its merchant pig iron, with annual consumption of 4 to 6 million metric tons. MagIron could meet one-third to one-half of this demand. First production could begin within two to three years of a final investment decision.
