Vijayanagar's Velocity: JSW Steel's Record Quarter Triples Profit

JSW Steel, India's largest steelmaker, more than tripled its quarterly profit to ₹5,359 crore for July to September 2026. It produced a record 7.27 million tonnes of steel & sold a record 7.46 million tonnes, helped by a new blast furnace at Vijayanagar. Revenue rose to ₹54,486 crore. Debt fell & leverage is now at a decade low. Profit per tonne slipped because coal costs rose & prices softened. The board approved big new projects in Odisha, Karnataka, Maharashtra & Mozambique, & the company plans to grow capacity from 37.9 to 64.8 million tonnes in five years.
