JFE Steel launched Japan's first large-scale stamp-charged coke oven at its Fukuyama works. The project cost two hundred eighty-two million dollars. The new technology compacts coal before charging, improving coke quality and allowing the use of cheaper coals. It also reduces emissions and strengthens Japan's domestic steel production base.
