India Steel's Sovereign Surge & Britain's Bargaining Balance

India secured a major trade victory with the UK by renegotiating a higher duty-free steel quota under their new free trade agreement. This quota, valued at $350 million, protects nearly 80% of India's steel exports from British safeguard tariffs. The pact also grants Indian professionals a five-year exemption from dual social security payments, saving $600 million yearly. Yet, a looming carbon tax from the UK in 2027 poses a fresh, unresolved challenge.
