Europe's Steel Stirs as Stability Slowly Surfaces

Europe's steel industry is showing early signs of renewed confidence. One hundred days after a new trade measure took effect, steelmakers have restarted about ten million metric tons of capacity. This has helped preserve up to eighty thousand jobs across the continent. Producers have also committed at least three point four billion euros in investment this year, with more expected. However, industry leaders caution that this is stabilisation, not full recovery. Exports continue to fall & demand is barely growing, so further support is needed to secure the industry's long-term future.
