European Union steel imports declined 5% year-on-year in the first half of 2026. Finished steel imports fell 3%, with long steel products plunging 18%. Turkey remained the largest supplier at 15.7%, followed by China at 12.3% and South Korea at 12%. Indonesian imports surged 70%, while Chinese imports rose 40%. The European Union reduced steel exports to third countries by 20%.
