From Pipe to Plate: Embosal's 1.2 Million Tonne Bid to Make the Gulf's Own Hot Rolled Coil
Embosal, a steel pipe maker based in the United Arab Emirates, plans to build its own hot rolled coil plant with a capacity of 1.2 million tonnes a year, aiming to start production by the end of 2027. The plant would melt scrap, cast slabs and roll them into coil, making steel grades ranging from structural steel to high-strength pipeline steel. The company expects emissions of 0.9 tonnes of CO₂ per tonne of steel. The move would let Embosal supply its own tube mills instead of importing coil from Asia, at a time when Gulf buyers face high freight costs and unreliable imports.
