Dillinger France has hired SMS group to upgrade the cold plate leveler at its Dunkirk steel mill. The upgrade replaces a control system from 1999 with new digital technology. This lets the mill process modern high-strength steel grades without replacing the physical machine. The change improves plate flatness & removes stress, expanding the product range. A special roll mode extends its uses without changing rolls. The project should finish by December 2027. Dillinger France makes over 600,000 metric tons of heavy plate each year.
