CISA Convenes 44 Steelmakers to Curtail Output & Clear Congested Coils

The China Iron and Steel Association has called on steelmakers to cut production and reduce inventories. Forty-four major companies signed the initiative, including China Baowu Steel Group and Shougang Group. The industry faces chronic overcapacity and weak demand. Steel prices have fallen and profits have plunged. CISA urges self-discipline and warns against below-cost selling. The initiative is the latest effort to regulate China's massive steel sector.
