BlueScope Steel has produced the first galvanized coil on its new line in Sydney. The line was supplied by the Austrian technology group ANDRITZ. It can produce 240,000 metric tons of coated steel each year. It handles strip up to 1,325 millimetres wide & between 0.30 & 1.00 millimetres thick, running at up to 160 metres per minute. Equipment includes a skin-pass mill, tension leveler, coaters & both gas-fired & electric heating. Performance testing now follows before final completion.
