Pilbara's Pivotal Project: BHP's Ministers North Forges Future Fortunes
BHP is investing $0.9 billion to develop the Ministers North iron ore project in Western Australia. The project is a satellite extension of the Yandi mine.
Ministers North will produce 20 million tonnes per annum once ramped up. It is a replacement capital play, not a growth expansion, designed to sustain BHP's 305 Mtpa production target.
The project is a joint venture between BHP, Itochu, and Mitsui, with first ore expected in FY29. It will leverage existing infrastructure including a 13-kilometre haul road.
