Belgium's steel distributors are raising the alarm over new European Union trade measures. Belmetal, the country's steel distributor federation, warns that Belgium's role as a major import gateway through the Port of Antwerp-Bruges makes it especially exposed to supply disruptions. The new system is more complex than before, requiring distributors to hold higher stocks & plan further ahead. Director Chetan Corten says the measures directly affect the competitiveness of Belgian steel distributors.
