Pecém's Pivotal Pursuit: Pioneering Premium Plate Production
ArcelorMittal's Pecém plant in Ceará, Brazil, has approved the first phase of a hot-rolled coil production line project, allocating 35 million reais ($7 million) to engineering studies. Full implementation could require 4.5 billion reais ($872 million) & create three thousand construction-phase jobs. The project aims to transform the plant from a slab producer into a flat steel manufacturer, potentially introducing compact, energy-efficient technology to Latin America for the first time.
