Tecnored's Tenacious Triumph & Tomorrow's Transformative Tipping Point
Tecnored, a Vale subsidiary, has built the world's first commercial green pig iron plant in Marabá, Brazil, using a biomass-powered process that emits zero CO₂ per metric ton of pig iron. The $342.1 million plant targets 250,000 metric tons per year, with potential to reach 500,000 metric tons. The technology cuts operating costs by up to 15% versus traditional blast furnaces and reduces reaction time from eight hours to just thirty minutes, making green ironmaking commercially viable today.
