Tata Steel has signed a landmark agreement with Paul Wurth S.A., part of SMS group, to deploy the world's first EASyMelt technology at its Jamshedpur blast furnace. The electrically-assisted syngas smelter aims to cut CO₂ emissions by over fifty percent from baseline levels. The technology uses plasma torches & syngas injection to reduce coke dependency, operating on multiple fuel types including hydrogen & coke oven gas. This brownfield conversion marks a pivotal step in Tata Steel's journey to net-zero emissions by 2045.
