Piotr Sikorski, EUROMETAL Board Member & President of Poland's steel distributors' association, called for comprehensive value-chain protection at the European Economic Congress 2026 in Katowice. He warned that global excess steel capacity hit six hundred and fifty million metric tons in 2025, while imports of steel-containing products are bypassing existing trade defences. Europe risks producing the world's greenest steel with no competitive customer base left to buy it.
