Morocco & Norway have signed a carbon market deal under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The agreement targets two gigawatts of new renewable energy capacity in Morocco between 2026 & 2036, supported by a Generation-Based Incentive programme. The partnership aims to cut up to ten million metric tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions by 2030. It channels Norwegian climate finance into Moroccan clean energy projects, creating carbon credits both nations can use toward their climate goals.
