A Singapore-based developer secured Omani sovereign backing for a green iron plant producing 5 million tons annually. The Duqm facility will use hydrogen from renewable energy instead of natural gas to make direct reduced iron for export. Operations target 2027. The project advances Oman's economic diversification while testing whether green hydrogen can compete commercially in metals production.
