MEPs' Magnanimous Missive: Reassessing CBAM's Recalcitrant Ukrainian Rigour

European Parliament members from multiple political groups call for a reassessment of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism's application to war-hit Ukraine. Ukraine is the leading exporter of Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism-covered goods, particularly steel, to the European Union. Rapporteur Mohammed Chahim says the force majeure clause must be reviewed, despite a December Commission report finding no grounds for an exemption. The European Commission says it is working Kyiv to facilitate the mechanism's implementation.
