JSW Vijayanagar Metals Limited has awarded John Cockerill India a one hundred and thirty-six million dollar contract to supply annealing & pickling lines for a new electrical steel mill in Karnataka. The facility will produce cold-rolled non-oriented electrical steel, a high-grade material used in electric motors, wind turbines, & transformers. India currently imports most of its electrical steel needs. This project marks a major step toward domestic self-sufficiency in a material critical to the country's energy transition goals.
