JSW’s Coking Coal Conundrum & Production’s Pared Prognosis

JSW lowered its 2026 coal output forecast to 13.3 million metric tons. A methane outburst at Pniówek mine in December 2025 killed two miners. The accident postponed the N-9 longwall launch from May to November 2026. The company had previously targeted 13.5 million metric tons. JSW signed a 2.1 billion złoty supply deal with ArcelorMittal Poland in March 2026. The Polish state may need to provide liquidity support.
