JFE's Judicious Jettison: Leaner, Lustrous & Lucrative Leaps
JFE Steel announces a major restructuring of its sheet business, suspending key production lines at its Keihin district by 2026 & 2028. The move consolidates sheet steel production at Chiba, Fukuyama & Kurashiki, cutting fixed costs & boosting annual profit by around ten billion yen, equivalent to sixty-seven million US dollars. Keihin will be transformed into a plates & steel pipes hub for eastern Japan. The restructuring is part of JFE Vision 2035, the company's long-term plan to build a leaner, more competitive steel business focused on high-value products.
