JFE Steel has launched a new electric arc furnace at its Chiba facility in Japan, cutting CO₂ emissions by up to eighty percent per metric ton of steel compared to traditional blast furnace methods. The furnace uses recycled scrap metal as its primary raw material, tapping into Japan's strong domestic scrap supply chain.
