Hydrogen's Heroic Harbinger Heralds Data Centres' Diesel Demise
INNIO Group has demonstrated the world's first three megawatt, one hundred percent hydrogen-fuelled engine as a data centre backup power system at Jenbach, Austria. The Jenbacher Hydrogen Engine achieved full power in seconds and managed artificial intelligence load swings without issue, observed by Microsoft, Google and Data4. The engine produces zero carbon dioxide emissions, burning pure hydrogen to generate water vapour. The breakthrough offers a credible zero-emission alternative to diesel generators as data centres scale rapidly to meet artificial intelligence demand.
