Coal's Crescendo & India's Import Influx

India's coking coal imports jumped nearly 11% as steel mills ramped up production. Domestic coal quality issues force 90% dependency on foreign suppliers, mostly from Australia. Ports in eastern India handle most shipments but face congestion and evacuation challenges. Steelmakers blend different coal grades to maintain quality while managing costs. Future imports will grow as India targets 300 million tons of steel capacity.
